Progressive Auto Insurance Coverage

In addition to typical auto insurance coverage of Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability, Comprehensive and Collision, Medical, and Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist, Progressive offers additional policies as well. For people leasing or financing their vehicle, you can purchase a policy for Loan/Lease Payoff which will pay the difference between your insurance claim payment and the balance remaining on the auto in the event the car is totaled provided a financial institution holds the loan or lease. The Loan/Lease Payoff claim payment will not exceed 25% of the actual cash value.

If you customize and accessorize your auto after-market (changes that were made to the car that were not part of the manufacturer’s original installation) you may choose to purchase Custom Parts and Equipment/Accessory Coverage. Although most states cover $1,000 for custom parts as part of your Comprehensive or Collision insurance, you can add $4,000 of coverage to get a total of $5,000 protection. This type of coverage typically covers accessories, enhancements, and permanently attached devices and equipment. After-market anti-theft devices, alloy wheels, camper tops, chrome, custom paint, installed entertainment systems, racing slicks, special tires, and specialized roofs are some items that could be covered and may be worth purchasing additional coverage to protect. Other items, such as CB radios, CDs, mobile entertainment systems, radar detectors, and telephones are not covered.

If you have Comprehensive and Collision, you may want to consider adding Rental Reimbursement to your policy. In the event you have a claim covered by your comprehensive or collision insurance and you need to rent a car while your vehicle is being repaired, this will cover your rental costs up to the daily limits purchased in your policy. Roadside Assistance is also available provided you purchase Comprehensive and Collision insurance. If your car battery dies or you get a flat tire, you can call roadside assistance to come to your aid for no additional costs. Roadside Assistance will also assist for electrical breakdowns, mechanical breakdowns, or if additional fluids such as fuel, oil, or water are needed. If you get locked out of your car you can receive lockout assistance and provided you are within one hundred feet of the roadway and you get stuck in mud, sand, snow, or water, you will get help for that as well.

Roadside Assistance is available 24/7 and since there are no additional expenses for the service you only have to sign to acknowledge service before you get back on the road. Roadside Assistance can be a valuable service but is sometimes covered with a manufacturer’s warranty, such as Hyundai’s 5 Year Roadside Assistance with the purchase of a new vehicle and it can also be covered by an extended warranty plan purchased through your dealer. Members of AAA also receive Roadside Assistance, so be sure you are not duplicating your coverage prior to purchasing the policy.

Another policy that is offered is Pet Injury Coverage. Progressive considers your pets to be not just passengers in your car, but part of your family as well. Therefore your Collision Coverage automatically includes $1,000 in medical coverage for your cat or dog if he is injured in a vehicular accident or if he is harmed during a car theft or automobile fire. Coverage also includes a pet that belongs to a relative who is residing with you. The money can be used to pay for veterinary bills or needed medicine that is related to the auto incident.

Progressive Auto Insurance Quotes

While the auto insurance that is required in most states is enough to satisfy legal requirements, it is oftentimes not enough to protect your financial assets if anything such as accident, theft, or vandalism was to occur. Consider the age of your vehicle, customizations and accessories to your vehicle, and your typical driving requirements (such as driving for errands only versus extensive driving) when you review available coverage options. I had a Progressive policy for about 2 years while I was in college. I drove an old clunker and the rates were very affordable but then I looked around and eventually switched to Esurance because they were a little cheaper. I was happy with Progressive while I had them. I was grateful for the 24/7 claims phone number at least once.

I had Progressive for motorcycle and auto insurance. Never had any problems with them. They offer discounts if you’ve been with them for a while which was nice.

I always laughed at the commercials, but when things got tight 2 months ago, I took a look. It was a no brainer, and I saved a significant amount of money by switching. They’ve been great so far.
